186k - the Leeds-based internet outfit - has snapped up Northern-based Elite Internet Services. Financial details were not released.

Elite is primarily a business-focused ISP and also operates other brands including ISPISP, Freedom Names and VISPWEB which have a claimed combined user base of around 500,000 punters, including dial-up users and hosting customers.

No jobs will be lost as result of the acquisition.

186k is on the hunt for more ISPs and expects to ink further deals in the coming months. It is also looking to recruit 100 or so technical staff in the summer to man a new £10m datacentre in Leeds. ®
