Murdoch offers film/TV downloadsX-Men coming to a PC screen near youPublished Monday 14th August 2006 10:14 GMT Rupert Murdoch's News Corp will start selling films and TV episodes via download from October. The service will initially offer content from sister company Twentieth Century Fox. A film will cost $19.99 and a TV episode $1.99. Films will be available from the day of the DVD release and TV shows will go online 24 hours after broadcast. You won't be allowed to burn DVDs of the content, but can transfer them to another Windows Media device. The film and TV content will be offered first on gaming site direct2drive.com before being offered on MySpace. Direct2drive is the platform, and DRM, for the service. Once the kinks are worked out, the service will be offered on other News Corp sites. News Corp paid $580m for MySpace last year. More from the LA Times here.®
