Easynet down again

Updated: Easynet customers are suffering downtime again today after failures at two of the company's co-location centres.

Paddington North went down yesterday at 14.10 and is still unavailable. Easynet's Westminster exchange went down at 14.20 today.

According to their status page the problems are affecting DSL and SureStream services but not web hosting, email or DNS servers.

The last outage suffered by Easynet was the result of an apparent robbery in October. Easynet claims 27 points of presence in the UK and promises 99.9 per cent uptime.

In November Easynet put out a bizarre survey calling on British business to complain more about poor service. Read more here - apparently the British stiff upper lip is preventing us from getting good service.

Easynet had no comment to make when we called them to relay readers' complaints.

An Easynet spokeswoman told us: "These were problems at local exchanges not at co-location centres. The Westminster problems were due to a fibre break on the BT network in the area of Buckingham Palace. Security concerns meant there was a delay in fixing it.

"The problems at North Paddington were due to the exchange losing power. It went down at 2.30pm on Wednesday, went back on at 5.30pm and down again at 9.30pm. Power was restored again at 9.30am on Thursday." ®
