BT Rakes in new chair

Bye-bye Bland

BT's current chairman Sir Christopher Bland will be replaced by Sir Michael Rake, the current chair of accountants at KPMG.

Rake will take over in September 2007, replacing Bland who took the top job in May 2001. Rake has been at KPMG since 1972 and was hired by BT for his "extensive international experience".

He is a member of the Confederation of British Industry, a vice president of the Royal Institute of the Blind, and is involved with the Britain in Europe campaign.

Rake is marrried with four children and lives in Henley.
