Telelogic models SOA look

Common touch

Published Monday 21st May 2007 16:00 GMT

Telelogic is updating its model-driven development suite for SOA, as part of a move to meet requirements of more "mainstream" IT users.

The company today announced Telelogic Systems Architect for SOA, a "major update" to version 10.7 of its Systems Architect product, along with Tau 3.1, an update to its system design and development environment packing support for the latest Java and XML specifications to describe network services.

Telelogic Systems Architect for SOA and Tau 3.1 follow the release earlier this year of DOORS Fastrak, a version of Telelogic's requirements definition and management software for developers outside the well-ordered world of mission-critical development, working in Rapid Application Development (RAD).

"We have been successful in engineering and we are seeing other areas in the [customer's] company developing applications that are looking over the fence and asking 'what are you guys using? You have been successful for a long time'," senior director of strategic solutions John Carrillo told The Register.

Carrillo said more Telelogic products would shift into serving these more "general development [teams] and users".

Telelogic Systems Architect for SOA adds the ability to visually model business processes and services using BPEL and BPMN, provides wizards to create diagrams, and features analytics tools and SOA reports, along with new models. Tau 3.1 features the ability to automatically import and generate models and diagrams using WSDL and XSD, support for moving between models and code in Java Enterprise Edition (EE) 5.0, and enhanced synchronization between models and Microsoft's C# code.®
