The search for more stuff to sell to mobile phone owners, who have had their fill of Crazy Frogs and versions of Tetris, continues with celebrity autographs from Mobile Fun.

The initial selection of autographs are of the long dead, who are unlikely to sue, but Mobile Fun reckons there's potential to hook up with living celebrities and to sell limited edition hancocks, assuming they can get the copy-protection organised.

"We already have lots of famous actors, sportsmen, and even politicians ready and waiting to use our Autographs System to sell their autographs for tens of thousands of pounds" said Mr Ruslan G Fedorovsky, newly appointed head of mobile at the company,

Mobile Fun premium autographs system product manager Simon Aston says: "Modern mobile phones have enough memory for avid Autograph Collectors to carry up to 10,000 copyright-protected autographs in their back pocket.

Quite how that copyright protection will work isn't clear; the company hasn't responded to our requests for further information, but it's difficult to envision how such a system could be secure enough to protect content worth tens of thousands of pounds.

The current offering isn't particularly well protected and, more disappointingly, doesn't even include Mr Hancock's scribbling. ®
