Leaked pics show EMBIGGENED iPhone 6 screen

Fat-fingered fanbois rejoice over Chinternet snaps

Fruity toy maker Apple’s next iPhone looks like it will definitely have a significantly bigger screen, if you believe the latest images to have found their way onto the Chinternet.

One shot, which appeared on Sina Weibo (via VR-Zone), shows a front panel purportedly from the currently in-production iPhone 6 dwarfing a black iPhone 5S next to it.

Not much else can be deduced from the pic except that the start button, ear speaker, front-facing camera and proximity sensor appear to be in the same place as usual.

The image would seem to corroborate most of the rumours that Apple has finally taken heed of its fanatical followers and is building a larger-screened model.

In fact, a Reuters report from a fortnight ago, citing “supply chain sources”, claimed that a 4.7in and a 5.5in model are in the works, with the latter already hitting delays. The current iPhone 5S has a 4.0in screen.

The sources also said both new models would use in-cell touchscreen technology to enable a thinner panel.

Elsewhere on the interwebs, CultofMac spotted further leaked images on Weibo apparently taken inside a Foxconn plant assembling the handset.

They purport to show technical drawings of the iPhone 6 chassis and a variety of production moulds for the device – the kind of thing that fanbois get very excited about.

There is, of course, no way to officially verify the leaked snaps and Apple is staying tight-lipped as always over the rumours.

However, they are at least all pretty consistent in pointing to a bigger display for the next iPhone, which fat-fingered fanbois will no doubt be thrilled about. ®
