Foxconn mechanises workforce

Foxconn has announced that 60,000 factory workers have been replaced by robots.

Famous for manufacturing Apple and Samsung products, and infamous for a spate of worker suicides, employee numbers at the factory in Kunshan in China were cut from 110,000 to 50,000, according to a local government official.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Xu Yulian celebrated the "reduction of labour costs" for the Taiwanese company. ®
