Beckham only English footballer good enough for France
Okay, so it's a tenuous IT angle and some blatant PR puff, but we like it
David Beckham (that bloke married to the god-awful pop star) is the only member of the English football team that would make it into the French side.
That is according to mIQ - a company whose entire business is sports stats (sent over mobiles). Apparently, David has completed 84 per cent of his passes - up there with Petit and Vieira. He comes out with a good defensive record too: an average of 3.67 blocks per game - better than any of the Froggies' midfielders.
His crossing is also top notch. Three completed crosses per game on average. Vieira managed only 0.52. He did come behind the French boys in tackles though, only making 48 per cent count.
There you have it. We should really point out that mIQ didn't justify in any way its claim that only Beckham was good enough to make the French team. It figured - quite rightly, as it happens - that once immersed in the stats we'd not worry about it.
