VIA September sales: not so bad
What will October bring
VIA has released its September sales figures and they are not so bad after all. The Taiwanese microprocessor firm produced revenues of NT$3.5 billion (about US$115 million) - NT$500 million down on its record month in August, but a stonking 253.45 per cent up on September 1999.
The company also says that sequential revenues from January through to September 2000 are up 281.59 per cent on the same period in 1999.
VIA's share price fell last week when it announced it would fail to meet previous sales forecasts for September. It attributed the shortfall to inventory clear-outs by customers, an explanation that raised eyebrows among some analysts. We will have to wait for October sales figures to see who is right. ®
