1.7GHz P4 spanks 1.33GHz Athlon in Quake 3

Hardware sites seem to like it

HWRoundup Don't know whether you've noticed but Intel has knocked out the 1.7GHz Pentium 4. And so, here is a brief list of what the boys have made of it, and some reference links for you.

The review site getting the nods of approval from its peers is Tech-report which says clock 'n' load. It reports the Athlon 1.33 GHz is faster in Serious Sam and Expendable, while The P4 wins in MBTR and Quake 3. Overall, the Athlon 1.33 GHz is slightly faster in most legacy benchmarks.

Also, as Aces Hardware spotted in the Tech-report roundup, the Athlon 1.33 GHz gives the P4 1.7 GHz a case of trousers down and six-of-the-best, when running a Compaq's Visual Fortran compiled version of Sciencemark.

Best of the rest.
