Christian ministry worker solicits underage sex on Net

'CervixOpener' bit of a give-away

A Christian ministry worker faces up to 20 years in jail after he used an Internet chat room to try and get underage sex.

Edwin Saleh yesterday admitted to US District Court Judge Florence-Marie Cooper that he had sought sex with a 14-year-old girl and kept a stash of child porn pictures, KCBS - Channel 2000 reports.

The 43-year-old, who worked for a Toronto-based Christian ministry, was caught after he struck up conversation in an online chat room with an FBI agent who was posing as a teenage girl called "MeganM".

Saleh, who went by the cyber-name of "CervixOpener", asked "MeganM" probing questions and wanted her to send him a photograph.

The agent sent Saleh a pic of a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy at the age of 13. In return, "CervixOpener" sent back a photo of an erect penis.

The two continued to converse in the chat room, designed for "girls and older men", until the ministry worker finally asked "MeganM" if she fancied meeting up. He was also keen to know if the girl was prepared to lose her virginity.

At one point he offered the teenage surfer a ring, with the message: "I want you to accept this ring as a sign of love and you will give yourself to me, as I give myself to you, as a sign of love."

Saleh was arrested when he turned up at the agreed meeting place. Around 30 disks containing child porn were found in his home. He is due to be sentenced on August 6. ®
