Dell is going to can thousands more workers according to analysts quizzed by Bloomberg.
The company slashed 1,700 jobs in February, but now Ashok Kumar, an analyst at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, reckons they need to get rid of at least 3,000 more. And Eric Rothdeutsch, an analyst at Robertson Stephens, thinks the figure could be as high as 5,000.
Price battles with Compaq and Gateway, the US PC market slowdown, and the need to slash operating expenses are expected to prompt Dell's actions. The cuts are expected in the next few weeks. ®
