Jungle falls for obvious virus hoax
It sends alert in gullible bungle
Online etailer Jungle.com has gullibly swallowed a well-known virus hoax. It then compounded its error by warning subscribers in its email newsletter about a non-existent threat.
Thousands of subscribers to the Jungle Drums newsletter were alerted to the supposed threat posed by the "virtual card for you" virus, which is described as "the most destructive virus so far" for which there is "no vaccine".
Users worried that their hard disks might be wiped need have no fear. The warning is a variation of the well-known Good Times virus hoax and poses about as much risk to PCs as a sleeping sloth in Sumatra.
Jungle's theme tune is The Lion Sleeps Tonight but it's really been caught napping in falling for such an obvious hoax... ®
