Sports content outfit - sportal.com - has laid off 20 staff in its continued bid to turn itself into a profitable business.
The company is also looking for additional investment despite receiving funding in December 2000 when the company received cash on condition that it cut overheads
This latest round of redundancies comes on top of the 25 job cuts announced in February.
Most of today's job losses are at Sportal's London HQ leaving some 130 employees remaining in the UK.
A spokesman for Sportal said: "I can confirm that we have reduced staffing levels by 20 people, in order for Sportal to remain on track to reach profitability in Q1 2002.
"The redundancies are spread across various departments. We are talking to a number of interested parties regarding further inward investment in the company.
"Sportal is a real business with real revenues and we remain both confident and committed in the future of the company," he said. ®
