RM wires south west schools for broadband

Secondaries done, primaries to follow

RM plc today said it had completed the first stage of the £6.2m South West Grid for Learning Project to provide a managed broadband Internet access service to 165 secondary schools through the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL).

SWGfL is the first regional broadband consortium to complete installation of high speed Internet access in all of its secondary schools.

There are eight regional consortia in place to deliver broadband to schools funded in part by a £37 million pot from the National Grid for Learning Standards Fund.

Next step for SWGfl is to wire up primary schools and libraries in its area for broadband. ®
