Acer caught in towering inferno
Was it bad? It's a fire, all fires are bad
Acer lost five offices, at a cost of $20.36 million, as a Taiwan tower-block turned into a towering inferno on Sunday.
According to a report by OC Workbench fire fighters battled the blaze for 35 hours before getting it under control.
The 26-storey building was home to dozens of high tech companies.
Taiwan's vice president Annette Lu and Premier Chang Chun-hsiung visited the scene, as well as Acer's CEO Stan Shih.
Shih estimated the fire would cost the company $20.36 million. The fire took out the offices of five of the Acer Group's businesses. Acer Inc. and Acer Sertek (Acer's sales/marketing arm in Taiwan) are located in a building that escaped the fire. ®
