Compaq unveils Evo line
Armada and Deskpro replacement
Compaq today unveiled the Evo range, a set of business computers designed to replacing its Armada and Deskpro brands.
Big Q is kicking off the new line with two laptops, the Evo N400c and N150, two workstations, the W6000 and W8000, and a legacy-free platform, the Evo Thin Client T20. All models come in trendy black and silver rather than beige.
The N400c notebook has Multiport USB technology, which lets users connect a wireless device to the machine. It weighs 3.5lbs and comes with a 700MHz Pentium III chip, 128MB SDRAM, 20GB hard drive, Windows 2000 and 12.1-inch TFT screen. It costs $2,299.
The N150 comes with 700MHz Celeron processor, 64MB, 10GB hard drive and 14.1-inch screen. It weighs 5.7lbs and costs $1,499.
The workstations use up to two Intel P4 Xeon processors at 1.4GHz or 1.7GHz. Prices start at $1,857 for the W6000 and $2,477 for the W8000.
The thin client is the size of a paperback book and costs $399. All the machines announced today are expected to start shipping next month.
The Evo range replaces the Armada and Deskpro product lines, which Compaq quietly scrapped last week. ®
