Tiscali UK staff leave today

These are the lucky ones

Today's the last day for many staff at Tiscali UK who've been told to "shove off" as part of the ISPs new streamlined operation.

According to insiders as many as 300 people have been booted from the three companies (WorldOnline UK, LibertySurf UK and LineOne) that make up Tiscali's new UK operation.

Tiscali has consistently denied that the job losses are as high as that.

However, we're sure the truth will come out soon.

A spokesperson for Tiscali declined to comment about the job losses today. But she told us that Tiscali will issue a press release tomorrow. We won't hold our breath though. Tiscali and "press relations" aren't exactly sophisticated.

Indeed, the PR handling of its much-leaked rationalisation almost puts it on a par with AltaVista UK's wall of silence when El Reg rumbled that its much-hyped unmetered Net service was non-existent.

Instead, El Reg tips its beak to those who are leaving today and wish them well.

For those who remain...the best of luck. From what we've heard, you'll need it. ®
