Novell has certified AMD's new server platform.
So now you know that NetWare is fully reliable and interoperable on the AMD Athlon MP processor and the AMD-760MP chipset, AMD's multiprocessing platform for one- and two-way servers.
Tyan, the Taiwanese mobo maker and AMD client firm, hailed the Novell certification as "certainly a significant milestone in the validation of this breakthrough platform."
More like an inchstone. Getting Novell on board is nice for AMD - it removes one potential sales objection. Getting Microsoft and some heavyweight Unix vendors will be even nicer. But so far, there is not a compelling reason for server makers or their corporate customers to junk Intel kit just yet.
The AMD server rigs certified by Novell incorporate Tyan's dual-processor Thunder K7 S2462 system board. ®
