Intel's Mobile Roadmap

What's to be launched - and when

More details of Intel's mobile processor roadmap have emerged, courtesy of company sources cited by Web site Xbit Labs.

Much of the information has been covered by The Register before, but one or two extra snippets help to fill out the schedule Intel has in place over the next 12 months and beyond.

So, the first Mobile Celeron to hit 1GHz will ship in April 2002, by which time the entire Mobile Celeron family, including the Low Voltage and Ultra-low Voltage parts, will be based on the 0.13 micron Tualtin core.

The following month will see the Mobile Pentium 4, based on the 0.13 micron Northwood core, released at 1.7GHz, a year after the current P4 made it to that clock speed. The Mobile P4 will debut in Q1 2002 at 1.5GHz and 1.6GHz, as we've reported before, but the new information pegs the release to February 2002.

Xbit's sources also say the 1.2GHz Pentium III-M (a Tualatin part) will ship in October - our earlier roadmap has it down for a September release. Ditto the 700MHz ULV PIII-M and the 800MHz LV PIII-M, which the sources put a month after our roadmap information. The new data suggests the LV PIII-M line will be expanded to take in 733 and 750MHz parts.

So how does all that leave Intel's launch diary looking?
