Eco-conscious Net users want to collect one million unwanted AOL software CDs - and then dump them at the Internet giant's US HQ in protest at what they call "needless pollution".
The site - nomoreaolcds.com - was launched at the beginning of the month. Since then it's received just 25 CDs.
Only "999,975 more CDs and we go marching," exclaims the site jubilantly.
In a mission statement, those behind the site identify three areas that have motivated them to take this extreme action.
"To make it clear to AOL a lot of people do not want and have never asked for their CDs.
"To stop the needless pollution of the environment due to distribution of unwanted materials.
"To preserve our personal privacy."
They maintain they don't have a grudge against AOL.
"Our sole intent is to end the unrequested distribution of their CDs," they say. ®
