110GB notebook hard drives are coming

Fujitsu jacks up recording density

Fujitsu Labs has said it can jack up hard disk drive recording density to 100Gb per square inch.

This means it can squash 110GB capacity onto a 2.5 inch notebook hard drive, reports AsiaBizTech.

The breakthrough is down to Fujitsu developing a new magneto recording technology, and the company reckons we'll be seeing 300Gb per square inch recording densities are a possibility.

The technology will be adopted in Fujitsu's hard drives in the later end of this year. ®
