Intel mobilises on CPU front

12 new SKUs

Intel today launches 12 new mobile CPUs, designed to cover "every PC segment".

These include the PIII-M 1.2GHz, the world's "fastest
mobile" PC CPU and the PIII-M 700MHz, the world's lowest-power-consuming" PC processor, which consumes less than half a watt of power. Both are made using 0.13m manufacturing technology.

All told, there are six new mobile PIIIs, and six new mobile Celerons with OEM prices ranging from $209 to $722 for the PIIIs and $75 to $134 for the Celerons

Also launched today are two new mobile chipsets, the 830M and the 830MG, priced at in 1,000 units at $49 and $35, respectively. Intel claims a performance improvement of 113 per cent for the new chipsets, compared with the previous Intel 815EM chipset.
