Severn Trent Water subsidises staff PCs

Half price HPs

Severn Trent Water has joined the band of businesses subsidising PCs for their staff.

The utility is offering to cover £470 of the price of a £900 HP Pavilion PC with Net access, software and support. The deal is being rolled out throughout December and is open to all 4,500 employees. They will be able to pay £12 a month over three years to cover their end of the deal.

Severn Trent Water expects at least three quarters of its staff to take up the offer.

The PCs will be supplied by PeoplePC, a US firm which specialises in fulfilling corporate PC dole-out schemes. PeoplePC struck a deal with Powergen in June to supply PCs to its 5,000 staff. Tiny Computers struck a similar deal with Avon in September to encourage its 160,000 self-employed reps to get online. ®
