Four Israeli youths are in custody after admitting to designing and spreading the Goner worm, an unsophisticated virus which spread like wildfire last week.
The four, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on Friday and could face between three and five years jail, Meir Zohar, the head of the police computer crime squad, told the Jerusalem Post.
One youth created the worm and the other three helped in spreading the virus, according to Zohar.
The police have applied to keep the minors in custody until Monday. No further arrests are anticipated, PC Media Plus, an Israeli PC magazine, reports.
Goner is a fairly rudimentary in its design, but it contains some nasty tricks up its sleeve. It spreads by ICQ as well as by Outlook. And you can read more about what it gets up to here. ®
