Nvidia settles Dutch hacking lawsuit

Social engineering

Nvidia has settled a lawsuit brought against two computer enthusiasts who published confidential information after allegedly hacking into the graphic chip firm's Web site. Terms are undisclosed.

The two, aged 19 and 21, posted "intellectual property and information about unannounced products" on enthusiast site M3DZone after posing as employees and Nvidia partners, CNET reports.

The pair are alleged to have breached the firm's firewall to obtain some of this information. They also tricked people into disclosing secrets with emails apparently originating from Nvidia staff or workers at its partners, which were redirected to M3DZone.

Nividia launched an investigation into the M3DZone leaks and concluded that the info had been obtained by hacking. It brought a lawsuit against the two unnamed hackers in September. ®
