We're cheaper than BT – Carphone
Retailer promises 30% savings
Carphone Warehouse, the UK's biggest mobile phone retailer, is to start flogging fixed line services from its shops.
Calls to mobile phones from the new talktalk service will be 25 per cent less than BT, and prices overall will be as much as 30 per cent cheaper, CPW claims today in a Regulatory News Statement.
Last year the company bought Opal Telecom for £65m upfront, inheriting 20,000 small business fixed line customers. Today's talktalk service is very much a retail play with CPW targeting 200,000 subscriptions in the first year.

CPW has big traffic in its shops every day, and it makes sense to offer new fixed line services at the time when people are considering buying a new mobile phone. Technically, it's a doddle to make the switch, as new customers retain their old BT line. ®
