Oracle seeks manicurist

Company-specific skills will be taught

Silicon Valley's economy may be in the tank, so kudos to the Oracle Corporation for doing what it can.

An opening advertised on Craigslist calls for a "very special, highly professional manicurist" to work on site at the Redwood Shores complex.

The candidate "will also prescribe appropriate nail products and services, educate clients in home care nail maintenance, and must be familiar with common nail disorders".

Candidates must be have "excellent sanitation habits, the ability to produce a precise, lasting polish application, and the ability to communicate effectively".

You must also have "proficient skills in hand and foot treatments including: spa manicures & pedicures, sports manicures & pedicures, and nail enhancements including acrylics, gel, fiberglass and silk".

An Oracle spokesperson confirmed that the job would be in the company's Health Club.

One requirement in particular intrigued us. The manicurist must be prepared to learn "techniques specific to Oracle employees".

What does that mean?

"I couldn't comment on that," the spokesperson told us, declining our invitation to elaborate on what these Oracle-specific techniques may be.
