The British Chiropractic Association (BCA) has warned that too much texting could lead to injuries in later life.

The warning comes as the latest figures from the Mobile Data Association (MDA) shows that 1.65 billion texts were sent in the UK during January - and average of 53 million messages a day.

Chiropractors are concerned that too much texting could lead to RSI-type injuries. It seems that the problem is made worse as mobile phones get smaller with buttons closer together.

Said BCA spokesperson, Tim Hutchful: "BCA chiropractors recognise that text messaging regularly, over a long period of time, could cause repetitive strain which may cause both short and long term injuries."

In 2000, an Australian researcher warned that we could be on the threshold of a global disaster because of the amount of time kids spent using computers and games consoles.

It was feared that children could develop medical problems caused by bad posture and RSI (repetitive strain injury). ®
