NTL 128K price hike confirmed

Cough up

NTL has confirmed that the price of its 128Kbps 'broadband' service will increase to £17.99 a month from May 1.

However, as if to sweeten the pill, the cableco has said that the speed of the service will increase to 150Kbps. Whoopy-doo.

Earlier this month NTL dismissed as "speculation" rumours that it planned to increase the price of its 128Kbps service by £3 a month from £14.99 to £17.99.

It now appears that "speculation" was true.

A sneaky footnote on its web site reads:

From 1st May, the price for 128K will be changing to £17.99 per month and from May the speed will be increasing to 150K.

One vulture-eyed reader who spotted the price rise told us: "It would be nice though if they told their customers about it. I found out by accident on their web site."

No one from NTL was available for comment. ®
