Dell anoints UK boss

Insider appointment

Dell has looked to its own ranks for a UK boss. He's called Bill Rodrigues, he's American, and he replaces Brian McBride, former Northern European veep, who tipped up at T-Mobile in February.

Rodrigues gets to run a 1,000-strong business, apparently Dell's second biggest country operation.

From the sound of it Rodrigues is an enterprise man, as he will also assume responsibility for all global customer accounts based in EMEA. He was promoted from general manager of Dell's education and healthcare sector business. And prior to that he was an IBMer for 21 years. His battle honours include general manager for global education in North America, general manager of IBM's AS/400 brand marketing in North America, and executive aide to Lou Gerstner.

Rodrigues will report to EMEA head Paul Bell. ®
