Tiscali's email probs sorted

C'mon, who left on the filters?

Tiscali UK has admitted that a problem with its email service over the last couple of days was its own fault.

Concerned punters thought that the ISP might have fallen victim to yet another attack after they struggled to access their email earlier this week.

Their concerns were confirmed when entries in Tiscali's status page read: "Some customers who are not dialing up via the Tiscali network will currently be experiencing problems accessing web mail and email. Our Engineers are working to resolve this as soon as possible."

However, now Tiscali has admitted that its own email filters were to blame.

The ISP told The Register: "Email filters, which we use to protect customers in the event of a DOS attack, were inadvertently applied. This has now been fixed and the service status page updated. We apologise for any inconvenience customers may have experienced."

Indeed, confirmation that's all well is on Tiscali's status page. The entry for 11:46:52 Fri May 23 2003 reads: " lskdfj slkfj sfj sodifj sodifj siodfjso".
