3 UK unveils new pricing bundles

Not just chit-chat

3 UK has unveiled two bundled pricing options for its 3G phones which it claims could save punters up to 50 per cent on monthly call charges.

The company says it is able to reduce the cost of its phone calls because its networks are more efficient at delivering voice calls - efficiencies it says it's passing on to it punters.

3 UK's new VideoTalk 500 package delivers 500 voice minutes to any network at any time for £25 per month. For the first three months the package also includes a £10 per month allowance for making video calls, sending video messages and downloading video clips. Oh and it's also chucking in 25 text messages per month for the first three months.

Then there's 3’s VideoTalk 750 package which offers 750 voice minutes for £35 a month, plus a £20 a month allowance for video allowance and 50 texts a month for the first three months.

Bob Fuller, 3 CEO, said: "Now with these two price options we’re broadening [our] focus to a wider audience, we want more people to enjoy the benefits of video mobile."

Earlier this week, analysts criticised 3 for flogging its 3G phone services based on the lure of low cost voice calls rather than multimedia services.

Analysts at Strand Consult were dismayed that 3 - Hutchison's 3G brand - isn't doing more to punt the technology. ®
