Small firms from across the UK have been urged to enter the E-Commerce Awards for the chance to win £40,000, with just two weeks now left until the application deadline of 31 July.
The government-backed awards, organised by InterForum and UK Online, have so far attracted nearly 2,000 entries, but small business interested in taking part have been told they must act now to have a chance of landing the big cash prize.
Now in their fifth year, the awards are free to enter and designed to reward innovation in the use of the internet and information and communication technologies in British small businesses.
The awards kick off with regional heats featuring four different categories – e-business startups, e-trading, e-business and voluntary and community work.
The winners of each regional category receive a £2,000 prize and are then entered into the national finals, where successful firms compete against each other to land a further £8,000 reward.
Each successful national winner, from each of the categories, then goes head-to-head to attempt to land the title of National E-Commerce Awards Champion and a £30,000 prize.
Liz Grant, director of epolicy and delivery, said that she would really urge companies to enter the awards.
“Many smaller businesses in the industry are using technology in innovative and effective ways and the awards present a great opportunity for this to be recognised and rewarded.
“We have already seen some impressive entries across the categories and from a range of sectors.
“In the way you use information and communications technology has helped the way your business works and improved your competitive edge, we want to hear from you.”
