Intel Celeron price cuts revealed
To be trimmed on 24 August, apparently
Intel is expected to cut the prices of its Celeron desktop processors on 24 August, but until now the extent to which those prices will be reduced has not leaked out of the chip giant.
A DigiTimes report, citing "company sources" has the gen. The cuts are not massive, it has to be said - the biggest reduction amounts to just 13.6 per cent - but this is only the bottom end of Intel's desktop CPU line.
Cuts to the Pentium 4 line are not expected until 26 October, just ahead of the launch of Prescott, the next generation of Pentium processor.
The Celeron price cuts will be accompanied by the launch of a 2.7GHz chip at $103. ®
