NTL confirms price hike

More speed, more money

NTL has confirmed that it is to up the cost of its 1Mb broadband service as part of sweeping price changes at the cableco.

Although details of the price increase had been widely leaked, NTL has confirmed that from 1 June, the cost of NTL's 1Mb service will increase £3 a month to £37.99.

However, the company said that it would freeze the cost of its 150k and 600k services.

In a letter to punters, NTL Home MD Aizad Hussain wrote: "...this year we are freezing the prices of our 150K and 600K Broadband services at 2003 levels. For the first time since its launch, the price of our 1Mb Broadband service will rise and, from 1st June, the price will be £37.99 a month."

The price of NTL's "unlimited" dial-up service is also rising by £2.49 a month from £10 to £12.49 while charges for its PAYG dial-up service is also on the up. During the day, for example, the cost is rising from 1p a minute to 3p a minute.

NTL has also announced increases to other part so its service. ®
