Tolkien site rings up email service too

Northern Ireland-based Aventure Media has launched a free 2GB email service. According to the blurb, Aventure Mail.com is ad free.

Neither does it display any third party advertisements on the Webmail website or through users' outgoing email.

"Our Company websites may be displayed online, but not third parties," said the company in a statement.

Elsewhere, Planet-Tolkien.com - the UK-based community focused on Lord of the Rings and other works by JRR Tolkien - has launched its own email service.

For £3.50 a month, shiremail.com offers users a "stress free" email service complete with virus and spam protection plus 1 gigabyte of email storage.

Last month Lycos Europe lifted the lid on its 1 gig email service cocking a snook at US rivals Yahoo! and Google. According to the PR guff, the Lycos email service will be free of ads and comes protected by anti-spam and anti-virus software. The service costs £3.49 ($6.17) per month. ®
