Elpida will next month begin mass-producing DDR 2 SDRAM using its 100nm process, the company said today. First to fall off the production line will be DDR 2 chips designed for 533MHz and 667MHz operation.
Intel's i925X, i915P and i915G chipsets, which offer DDR 2 support for mainstream desktop PCs, are believed to be capable of handling 667MHz DDR 2 via their dual-channel memory controllers.
Elpida plans to increase production capacity of 100nm products to more than 50 per cent of its 300 mm wafer line capacity by January 2005. ®
