CW will text you your voicemails

Cunning mobile plan...

Carphone Warehouse has signed up SpinVox to convert customers' voicemail messages into text messages.

Subscribers won't have to struggle to hear messages, they can simply have them texted to their phone. The company claims nine out of ten people who took up the free trial ended up paying for the service because it makes voicemail so much easier to use. SpinVox can also convert voicemail messages into e-mails.

The service will be trialled for three weeks in 78 stores in the London area before a nationwide rollout. Customers will pay £5 for every 20 messages sent.

SpinVox launched in October last year and claims 16,000 customers, according to the Sunday Times. The service will be branded "talk2text, powered by SpinVox", according to the paper.

It is run by Christina Domecq, a member of the famous sherry producing family. It is already available in Comet and the Link. Services for business customers are also sold by Hugh Symons Communications. ®
