FaxYourMP.com gets a makeover
Now you can badger other politicians too
A popular scheme to give UK voters access to their elected representatives has been relaunched just in time for a much-anticipated May general election.
FaxYourMP.com, which won an Internet Hero gong in Future Publishing's internet awards last year, has been transformed into WriteToThem.com. It gives voters the chance to write to their Member of Parliament, and provides access to MEPs, Members of the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly Members, London Assembly Members, and County and District Councillors.
Since its launch in 2001 more than 100,000 faxes and emails have been sent to politicians via the FaxYourMP.com website.
Now the organisers behind the new and improved site hope WriteToThem.com will prove as popular.
"FaxYourMP is important because it puts so many people in touch with their MPs who've never been in touch with them before - about 60 per cent of users according to our feedback mechanisms," said a spokesman.
"We hope that the additional functionality of WriteToThem.com will help make even more useful contact between citizens who feel cut off from government, and the elected officials who work for them." ®
