War Child album goes down to the wire

Mixed and on the web in 24 hours

It's been tight, but at around 5pm today UK time, music fans will be able to listen to the fundraising War Child compilation album Help: A Day In The Life - knocked together in a record-breaking 24 hours and featuring such luminaries as Radiohead and Gorillaz.

Coldplay have also made a late appearance into the line-up, with a remix of How You See The World. Keane have recorded a version of Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, while Kaiser Chiefs submitted I Heard It Through the Grapevine.

Other featured artists are, according to the War Child blurb, Mylo, Go! Team, The Magic Numbers, Manics, Belle & Sebastian, Emmanuel Jal, Keane, Tinariwen, Antony And The Johnsons, Elbow, Damien Rice, The Zutons, The Coral, Maximo Park, Hard-Fi, Bloc Party and Razorlight.

Good stuff. For the uninitiated, here's War Child's manifesto:

One child dies every three minutes because of armed conflict. War Child believes children should never be affected by war. Full stop. Our campaigning seeks to address this gross injustice. Sanction action with us now.

We can relate to that. Keep your browser peeled for the imminent arrival of Help: A Day In The Life, or you can help War Child in other ways, as explained here. ®
