AMD 'delays' Socket F Opterons, Taiwan moles claim
Only a few weeks if rumours are to be believed
AMD appears to have put back the release of Socket F Opteron processors, if word coming out of Taiwan's motherboard-maker community is anything to go by. The CPUs will now ship on 1 August, not 11 July, the moles maintain.
The chip maker has, of course, never said publicly when Socket F parts will be provided, and the alleged re-scheduling was claimed by industry cited by DigiTimes.
Socket F is certainly imminent. Speculation had the 1,207-pin CPU interconnect down for an early June release, and a number of mobo vendors showed off Socket F boards at Computex 2006 in Taipei a couple of weeks ago. ®
