Stone Computers and Compusys merge

Marriage in the channel

Stone Computers and Compusys, two large public sector resellers, are merging their businesses.

Stone Computers sales director Jamie Russell told the Reg: "One of the charms of this deal is that despite similar technologies we have different customers. We're very strong in further education colleges and schools. Compusys are strong in universities, blue light (emergency services) and high performance computing. I see HPC as a huge growth market which is becoming more commoditised."

The two brands will be retained. Sam Kazerounian, founder of Compusys, joins Stone's board of directors.

The deal will give the combined firms a turnover of just under £100m, a workforce of 210 people, and 45 fulltime support engineers giving nationwide coverage. ®
