Oracle disappoints on identity news

Where's Larry?

RSA It was with more of a whimper than a bang that Oracle Wednesday handed a framework for building standardized regulatory compliance systems to the Liberty Alliance Project.

The Oracle-backed Identity Governance Framework (IGF) provides a framework to define policies and build systems that help ensure organizations' comply with regulation such as Sarbanes Oxley.

Oracle's donation is expected to lead to a merging of federated single sign-on systems based on Liberty with IGF.

The donation, under a royalty-free license, also means potentially broader update. IGF has so-far been supported CA, Layer 7 Technologies, Hewlett-Packard Co, Novell, Ping Identity Systems, Securent, Sun Microsystems and Oracle. Liberty consists of more than 150 organizations including major end users.

Filling in Larry Ellsion, Oracle veep Hasan Rizvi announced the gift today in a keynote for RSA in San Francisco. Oracle's colorful chief executive has flu and was a no-show at the security conference.®
