Rittenmeyer takes CEO job at EDS

Smooth succession at services giant

Services giant EDS has named Ron Rittenmeyer as CEO, two years after he joined the firm.

Rittenmeyer succeeds Michael Jordan in EDS’ top C spot. Jordan will continue as Chairman of the services firm which he has been turning around since the first half of this decade, after the company almost sunk itself after striking a massive outsourcing deal with the US Navy Marine Corp.

Rittenmeyer joined the Texan behemoth as vice president of service delivery in 2005, later becoming COO and president. He’s been part of a stream of experienced execs, including Jordan, who have been brought into the firm since the NMCI debacle, often from outside the IT industry.

The influx of kind of fresh blood appears to have at least gotten the services company back on the straight and narrow. Some of the recruits have since jumped the EDS ship to join the likes of Dell – another Texan IT firm that has lost its way a bit.®
