Sony sees red over PSP

Sony has refreshed its PSP line-up for the Christmas rush. It's releasing the handheld console in a seasonal red shade and with two accompanying bundle packs.

Sony's red PSP: available with a TV tuner

Dubbed the Deep Red PSP, gamers will be offered the unit in either a Value Pack or a Seg Pack – so called because it includes a Seg TV tuner for watching digital TV broadcasts, if you get bored of gaming.

The tuner was unveiled for Japan earlier this year, but it’ll only work there because 1seg is the country’s mobile terrestrial digital audio, video and data broadcasting service.

Both packs also include a hand strap, pouch and cloth. However, the Seg Pack has a stand and 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo card thrown in too, instead of the Value Pack’s lesser 32MB card.

The Value Pack will cost ¥22,800 (£95/€115/$190) and the Seg Pack ¥29,800 (£125/€145/$250). There’s no word yet on a European release.
