Finnish school gunman posted warning on YouTube

Manifesto video left online

A pupil at a Finnish high school reportedly posted a video manifesto onto YouTube before killing seven people and injuring several others this morning.

The incident happened 50km north of Helsinki and the alleged gunman was a pupil at the school, the BBC reports. The 18-year-old alleged gunman was arrested following a siege at the school. He was armed with a handgun.

Posted under the name Sturmgeist89 were at least three videos, two entitled "Natural Selector's Manifesto Part 1/Part 2". These were added two days ago.

The video showed a still photograph of the school before cutting to a shot of man pointing a handgun at the camera, according to Reuters.

Finnish paper Helsingin Sanomat reports the suspect also put text documents of his "Natural Selector's Manifesto" online, more here.

At the time of writing YouTube had removed the videos replacing them with the stock message: "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

Meanwhile MySpace pages belonging to students involved in the death of English student Meredith Kercher in Italy are still available, and are attracting increasingly bizarre messages. ®
