Bangkok vigilante 'wipes out' sleeping security guards

Ten victims 'did not deserve to be paid'

A Thai security guard who took exception to fellow operatives sleeping on the job because they had "taken advantage of their employers and did not deserve to be paid", duly beat 10 of the men to death, the Telegraph reports.

Witaya Jaikhan, 30, clubbed his victims with an iron bar or wooden stick after initiating his Bangkok vigilante campaign back in January. Eight other dozing guards were injured in the spree, which ended when Jaikan used the mobile phone of one of his victims to ring the wife, and police moved in.

Jaikhan said: "I used to wake them up but they scolded me so I've remained enraged since then. Once I saw a security guard sleeping and while on duty. First I warned him. The second time he fell asleep I hit him with a piece of wood then arranged his body just as he had been sleeping."

In case you're wondering, Bangkok security guards are apparently in the habit of "snoozing in a deckchair outside the premises" they're supposed to be monitoring. ®
