Nokia unveils glamour-puss phone pair
Put one next to your Bentley
Nokia is hoping to seduce spendaholic customers with plenty of Euros to spare - today it launched two designer handsets, follow-ups to its Sirocco phone.
Nokia's 8800 Arte: fingerprint-proof?
Both have a special coating on their metal and glass surfaces, which Nokia claimed will stop unwanted smudges. However, only the Sapphire Arte features splashes of gemstone and leather.

Nokia’s also thrown in a couple of other novel functions, including a sensor that, it claimed, will mute incoming calls when the handset's placed display-side down. Tapping either phone twice also reveals an analogue display on-screen.
Beyond their looks, both handsets are identical. They connect to 3G and tri-band GSM/GPRS/Edge networks, and sport a 2in, 240 x 320 OLED screen ready to display pictures snapped on the 3.2-megapixel, autofocus, 8x digital zoom camera. Images can be stored on the internal 1GB memory, or transferred to a PC via Bluetooth or USB.

Chatty posers will, Nokia claimed, get three hours of talk time and around 12 days of standby life from either phone.
The 8800 Arte will be available in time for Christmas, priced at a whopping €1000 (£700/$1450). The 8800 Sapphire Arte will be released in the first quarter of 2008 for an even more wallet-pummelling €1150 (£810/$1670).
